PDM Racing
is now stocking extreme performance Power
Slot rotors. Excessive heat from heavy
braking can cause resins in your brake
pads to vaporize, or “outgas”.
Also as the brake pad wears, the used
friction material turns into a fine dust.
This layer of gas and excess brake material
builds up to create a boundary of carp
between your rotor and brake pad, which
decreases braking performance.
Power Slot’s exclusive “Vac-U-Slots”
are machined into the rotor which helps
to evacuate these gases and dust, to shed
heat and to keep the brake pad surface
clean. This compliments your pad and rotor
surface by “wiping” it clean
for better, more consistant braking. In
addition, during wet conditions, these
slots help to push the water off the braking
surface for better stopping power. (slotted
rotors were originally engineered for
rain racing) |
|
Furthermore,
these slots are machined exactly to the minimum
rotor thickness. This will indicate that it’s
time to replace your rotors once the slots are
no longer visible.
Every Power Slot rotor starts off as a premium
blank casting sourced from the best foundries
in North America, Europe and Japan. Power Slot
ensures these rotors meet and exceed the features
of OEM rotors, in addition to making sure they
meet SAE J431 metallurgy casting grade, brinnel
harndness and surface finish. What does this
mean ? Power Slot are not “offshore”
castings made in China. The problems associated
with inferior offshore rotors, is inconsistent
porous material often with less cooling fins
than OEM counterparts.

KVR Crossdrilled
Rotors Why
should you upgrade to cross drilled rotors?
Simply stated, the
function of any vehicles brake system is to
stop the vehicle. This is accomplished by absorbing
the kinetic energy stored in the moving vehicle,
and converting it into heat. The friction caused
by the brake pad rubbing on the rotor is the
source of this heat. The more quickly and efficiently
that heat can be absorbed and dissipated, the
more quickly and efficiently the car will stop.
There are several contributing
factors to this heat reduction. One of the most
common sources of heat is from the gases produced
by the bonding agents of the brake pad burning
off. Under severe braking, this can actually
produce a boundary layer of gas that pushes
the pad away from the rotor, which can lead
to excessive brake fade. The cross-drilled holes
or slots in a rotor provide an escape path for
these gasses (de-gassing or out-gassing are
common terms), and allow the pad to stay in
contact with the rotor. As well as de-gassing,
cross drilling or slotting will provide better
wet weather braking as water is swept through
the holes, or down the slots.
A vented rotor can
be viewed as an air fan. When in motion, the
vents draw air from the center of the rotor
outward. This air flow, over an increased internal
surface area, effectively dissipates rotor heat.
Cross drilling adds to this air flow, as well
as providing additional rotor surface cooling.
KVR CROSS DRILLED ROTORS ARE:
- Cad designed for each specific application,
with attention to vane structure and construction
to determine the optimum cross drill pattern
- Gold or silver cadmium plated to military
specs. (Black Plating available at extra costs)
300ZX rotors provide a BEEFY 26mm and 30mm
rotor thickness to REALLY haul your 240SX
down.

| NOTE * All rotors in
stock are GOLD or SILVER cadmium plated,
and CROSS DRILLED. PDM can supply KVR
rotors in black cadmium plating, but these are
special orders, and will be subject to special
order production runs and shipping fees. PLEASE
SPECIFY WHAT COLOUR you require on your
order, as sometimes both colours are not in
stock. Also, rotors are only SOLD IN
PAIRS.
** All vented rotors can be ordered
in slotted versions too instead of cross drilled.
These can be ordered, but are subject to special
order production runs and shipping fees. Email
us to find out how much
more these special orders will be. |
